Dear Readers,
I will no longer be updating this site with new information or reading audio files. I am sorry for the inconvienence, but edublogs.org will not allow me to upload any more files (picture or audio) without now paying a fee. As I understand their need to cover costs, I am disappointed in losing the previously free access. I will be posting a forwarding website link as soon as I have a new site up and running. Thank you!

I hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving Break and you all had a chance to reflect on the blessings in your own lives. We have three weeks of hard work ahead of us before Winter Break, so let’s get to it! This week we begin a new unit on Animal Stories, beginning with a very funny story called Dogzilla. Every year this is a favorite of the students. In writing, we will be writing a sequal, called Dogzilla 2: Attack of the Puppies. In this story, the children will be writing the story of how the mice deal with a new challenge. Ask your child what their own story is about. In other business, we will be visiting the Holiday Store on Thursday. If you would like your child to shop, please send cash in an envelope before or on Thursday. I will be bringing wrapping paper in so they can keep their purchases a surprise! Also, we continue working on mulitplication. Friday will be the make-up quizzes for anyone who needs a second chance at the 3/4/5’s.

This week we are reviewing all we have learned in the past unit, Celebrating Traditions. We end with two short stories and the spelling words are all review. There will be no vocabulary quiz this week, so there is no eWord Games for these stories. Thursday is BOOK FAIR for our class. So, if you would like to have your child buy books at the book fair, please send in money with them on Thursday. Thank you!

The story for this week is Dancing Rainbows. This is a non-fiction piece about the Pueblo Native Americans. However, the audio to this story is having difficulty loading, so I am adding the Vocabulary story from the students’ Listening Center. It covers the same vocabulary words that you find in the regular story. I also posted the vocabulary words for this story in class, so the children can write them down at the beginning of the week. Along with eWord Games, this should better prepare them for the Vocabulary quiz on Thursday. The audio clip is below:

Our study of traditions and celebrations continues with this week’s story, The Talking Cloth. Please have your child listen along at home and they could include a summary as part of their homework. Also, don’t forget that Tuesday night is the Third Grade concert!
